Cimmetry Systems and Centric Software have announced the signing of an agreement whereby Centric Software licenses Cimmetry's VCET technology for use with its CVPD Solutions.

Cimmetry Systems and Centric Software have announced today the signing of an agreement whereby Centric Software licenses Cimmetry's VCET technology for use with its CVPD Solutions.

VCET is the OEM kernel of AutoVue, Cimmetry's acclaimed View-Markup solution.

Centric's CVPD Solutions provide project, process and functional collaboration management for the extended enterprise.

By embedding Cimmetry's technology into its products, Centric Software will provide its users with visual access to a wide variety of 2D document and drawing formats.

Centric Software announced that it has licensed both the fat-client Windows version and the latest JAVA based thin-client solution from Cimmetry.

The JAVA version will allow users of Centric Software's products to view, annotate and collaborate on 2D engineering documents over the Internet.

The thin-client aspect means that installation and upkeep only occurs on the server side, not on the client side, allowing for ease of deployment and maintenance.

"After a thorough evaluation of several 2D viewing and markup solutions in the marketplace, the flexibility afforded us by Cimmetry's technology made them a clear choice.

said Ron Watson, Director of Product Management at Centric Software.

"Their comprehensive file format support along with industry leading markup capabilities provides one more compelling reason for our customers to use Centric's CVPD (Collaborative Virtual Product Development) Solutions.

"It is very gratifying to us that Centric Software has selected to incorporate Cimmetry's 2D viewing technology into its exciting and innovative Pivotal CVPD product," said Alain Danik, Manager of Business Development at Cimmetry Systems.

"Our companies share a common vision of facilitating access to information and enabling the sharing of expertise between multi-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.

The Web is proving to be a tremendously empowering tool in this respect, nullifying differences in time and location and bridging the information gap between organizations and their supply-chain partners.

Danik went on to say that "As the pioneer in full-featured Web based viewing and redlining technology, Cimmetry can appreciate the significant competitive advantage gained by organizations that adopt Pivotal for their design and project management activities.
