BuildOnline, the provider of Web-based software for the property and construction industry, has licensed Cimmetry's AutoVue for Java technology for use with its software

BuildOnline, Europe's leading provider of Web-based software for the property and construction industry, and Cimmetry Systems, the leader in visualization and collaboration solutions, announced today that BuildOnline has licensed Cimmetry's AutoVue for Java technology for use with its software solutions.

BuildOnline, Europe's first B2B e-business site for the construction industry, has developed an integrated suite of products spanning project collaboration, tendering, and procurement, designed specifically to speed up the existing processes in the construction industry.

It sells its software on a license basis, and provides training and advice in transferring to web based processes.

BuildOnline has developed solutions to save the industry time and money, by allowing companies to: - collaborate online with all members of a construction project from design to completion - share information about best practice using our knowledge management system - issue and respond to tenders online Cimmetry's AutoVue technology allows users to access over 200 different CAD and office formats without requiring the authoring applications.

Users can open remotely located documents directly in their Web browsers, create markups or redlining files and save these annotations back onto the server.

This allows for easy collaboration on construction projects and part sourcing without the need to purchase expensive licenses of multiple design and office applications.

Some of the document formats supported include: AutoCAD, MicroStation, HPGL, PDF, TIFF, MS Office and more.

The fit between BuildOnline and AutoVue for Java is an obvious one.

Customers, suppliers and business partners who are collaborating on construction projects have the need for a reliable way of viewing their documents.

Cimmetry's unsurpassed format support of both CAD and office documents on a Java thin-client platform, will allow users to collaborate visually from within their web-browsers, without necessitating a client-side install.

"After performing extensive research, our decision to integrate Cimmetry's AutoVue for Java product was an easy one, as it combines the best viewing and mark up functionality with the most extensive range of file types supported." said Joe Dougherty, VP Technology at BuildOnline "It was important for us to find a viewer that gives our customers this extensive functionality, whilst being easy to use.

The Cimmetry product is an important part of our unique solution." "Cimmetry Systems continues to make big strides in the on-line collaboration markets, garnering wide acceptance worldwide.

Our latest partnership with BuildOnline is a prime example of our success." said Brian Strasser, Business Development Manager at Cimmetry Systems.

"BuildOnline has developed a solid Web based service designed to facilitate project management and collaboration in the European construction market.

By using our AutoVue for Java product, BuildOnline users can access disparate drawings and other documents via their web browser in an easy to use, thin-client visualization and collaboration offering.".
