Cimmetry Systems has announced that the new release of their AutoVue family of products for Windows and Java (version 15.4 c1) includes native support for Microsoft's Office XP suite of applications.

Cimmetry Systems has announced that the new release of their AutoVue family of products for Windows and Java (version 15.4 c1) includes native support for Microsoft's Office XP suite of applications.

"Many users of Microsoft's popular office applications will soon be graduating to the XP suite.

Cimmetry offers peace of mind for these users." said Pam Petropoulos of Cimmetry Systems.

"Given its extensive viewing functionality, its complete and flexible annotation capabilities and its broad range of supported formats, AutoVue stands out as the only one-stop-shop native visualization solution on the market today." Cimmetry Systems has supported Microsoft's formats for years, providing their customers with native viewing for Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Word has been supported since version 2.0 and Excel and PowerPoint since versions 3.

Now, shortly after Microsoft began shipping the XP edition of their popular office suite, Cimmetry announces its own support for these formats.

XP users can now natively view and annotate their documents directly from the AutoVue interface.

Native viewing means that AutoVue can open and display the original documents without needing to convert them first.

Users can then markup these documents and save their annotations as a separate associated file.

The original document remains unchanged yet future collaborators can visually access the annotations and add their own feedback.

AutoVue supports over 200 different document formats including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, PDF, TIFF, Corel, Lotus 123, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Gerber and many more.

The list includes raster, vector and hybrid 2D engineering formats as well 3D CAD modeling formats.

AutoVue is available in both a Windows standalone edition and a Java thin-client version, allowing users to view and markup documents directly in their web browsers.

Out-of-the-box integrations are available for many popular document management and PDM/EDM systems including Documentum, FileNET, Lotus Notes, Matrix, Open Text, PC DOCS and Windchill.
