Cimmetry has added the 2000 and the soon-to-be-released 2002 editions of Visio to AutoVue's list of supported formats.
Users can now open and annotate Visio drawings directly in the AutoVue interface without first needing to convert the documents.
Visio 2000 and 2002 documents are viewed natively within AutoVue, with full access to the core geometry embedded in the drawing file (i.e not based on accessing the preview part of the drawing).
"Preview" is an option which Visio users can toggle on, creating a raster rendition of the drawing and saving it in the same file as the vector-based geometry.
Viewing the preview part of the file instead of the base geometry not only displays imprecise data, but if preview creation is toggled off during the saving of the file, viewers relying on this raster data will see nothing at all.
Since Visio only creates a preview of the first page of a document, only native viewing (i.e AutoVue) enables access to the base geometry of the file and thus multi-page viewing of Visio documents.
AutoVue is the only viewing solution to natively view Visio documents.
The AutoVue family of products provides native viewing for over 200 different 2D/3D CAD, office and graphics formats, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, TIFF, PDF, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pro/Engineer, CATIA, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor, IGES, HPGL, VRML, ACIS, STEP and many more.
Both a Windows standalone version and a Java thin-client version of AutoVue are available.
AutoVue for Java allows users to view and markup their documents directly from within their web browsers.
It requires only a server-side install, allowing for easy maintenance and virtually instantaneous deployment.
