Cimmetry Systems and Valor Computerized Systems have announced that Cimmetry will support Valor's ODB++(X) electronics CAD/CAM data format within its AutoVue suite of viewing/mark-up tools.

"The decision to include ODB++(X) support in our products was made due to its widespread adoption throughout the electronics industry as a de-facto standard for data exchange between design and manufacturing, of design data relating to PCBs and Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCAs)," said Brian Strasser, Business Development Manager at Cimmetry.

"Valor has dedicated its technical resources to supporting Cimmetry in the development and testing work to ensure that a robust and fully proven solution is brought to the market." "Valor, as initial inventor of the ODB++ format, is pleased to see the market leader in Visualization solutions support the rapidly emerging XML version, ODB++(X)." said Julian Coates, VP of Corporate Marketing at Valor.

"Valor fully supports Cimmetry's strategy of providing powerful Visualization and Collaboration capabilities to the EDA and ECAD communities." Coates continued saying "Valor and Cimmetry have agreed to work very closely with each other to deliver viewing of ODB++(X) documents within Cimmetry's AutoVue technology." AutoVue allows users to view and markup over 200 different 2D/3D ECAD, MCAD, engineering and office document formats from a single interface.

Users will now be able to open their ODB++ files within AutoVue, view them, mark them up, and save their annotations as separate associated files without altering the original document.

ODB++(X) support will be available in the 15.5 release of Cimmetry's AutoVue family of solutions.
