Real-time visualisation and collaboration online
Cimmetry Systems has released AutoVue 17, which it reckons incorporates many significant new features.
Collaboration spreads to Solaris environment
The AutoVue 17 server is now available for the Solaris platform.
Thus users can access, review and provide feedback on product data, regardless of format, without requiring the authoring applications.
AutoVue is available as a thick-client desktop install and as a thin-client, server based solution.
With the thin-client version of AutoVue, users can view and collaborate on remotely located documents over any intranet, extranet or the Internet, using only a web browser.

AutoVue supports AutoCAD 2004
AutoVue users can now handle AutoCAD 2004 files via a new service pack for current users under maintenance and also using the upcoming release of AutoVue 17.1.
Collaboration solution adds EDA support
There are many significant new additions in AutoVue 17.1, including new format support and new EDA features and functionality for the electronics and high-tech markets.
"Cimmetry Systems has provided the leading visualisation and collaboration solutions to the MCAD and engineering markets for some time now", said Pam Petropoulos, Marketing Coordinator at Cimmetry Systems "With our support for EDA design formats, we bring that expertise to the electronics community.
Our AutoVue technology helps collapse design cycles and reduce time-to-market to provide significant competitive advantage and return on investment".
AutoVue 17 supports an extensive list of electronic CAD and PCB design formats ranging from schematic capture documents to the actual native design and layout formats to the fabrication output formats.
Formats include: Cadence Allegro, Allegro IPF, Mentor Board Station, Mentor Neutral, Barco DPF, Orcad Capture, Orcad Layout, P-CAD Schematic, P-CAD Layout, EDIF, IDF, PDIF PCB, PDIF Schematics, Gerber, ODB++, GenCAM and more.
Now all stakeholders within and outside an organisation can access PCB schematic and design data and provide feedback at all stages of the design process.
Customers, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors and manufacturers can collaborate on schematics and PCBs before they go to fabrication.
This results in improved product quality, reduced time-to-market, fewer costly errors and provides a substantial ROI.
Hundreds of other native formats are also supported, such as 3D CAD parts and assemblies, 2D CAD drawings, scanned and raster documents, vector files, office documents and graphics, providing you with an easy, fast, single point of access to your data.
Integrations with major document management, PLM and ERP systems provide workflow control and management of markup/redline files.
Available integrations include: Agile, Documentum, FileNET, Hummingbird, Lotus Notes, MatrixOne, Open Text, SmarTeam, Windchill and more.
AutoVue's open API allows for ease of integration with any other host systems as well as simplifying any customisation required.
