The AutoVue 17 server is now available for the Solaris platform.

The AutoVue 17 server is now available for the Solaris platform.

AutoVue allows users to view, query, print, markup, and collaborate in real-time, on more than 200 different native data formats (2D/3D CAD, EDA, Office documents etc), over an intranet, extranet or the Internet.

AutoVue for Java is thin-client, eliminating the need to install and maintain software on multiple client machines.

Cimmetry's streaming technology optimises the available bandwidth providing quick access to documents regardless of connection speed.

The AutoVue server has been successfully deployed on Windows for several years, and is now also available for Unix.

"Cimmetry has achieved the leadership position in the visualisation and collaboration arena both technologically and in the marketplace", said Pam Petropoulos at Cimmetry Systems.

"AutoVue is the only product that offers viewing, markup and real-time collaboration for native 2D CAD, 3D CAD, EDA formats and office documents in a thin-client, server based solution.

With this release of the AutoVue server for Unix, and with integrations available for the major EDM, PLM and ERP systems, Fortune 1000 customers finally have the all-encompassing, scalable and reliable solution they have been eagerly awaiting".

Unix servers are renowned for their reliability and scalability when running critical enterprise applications.

Organisations with mid-to-large installations of visualisation and collaboration software often require that these solutions run on Unix.

The AutoVue for Java server is now available for Sun Solaris.

Users can access data stored on the AutoVue servers from their client machines using a standard Java-enabled web browser.

AutoVue is written in Java 1.1, the version that ships with most browsers, removing the need for each client to download an updated Java runtime environment before using the application.

The AutoVue client runs in Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers, for Windows, Mac, Unix and Linux.

Organisations can now choose to deploy to these clients from either Windows or Unix servers.

AutoVue supports 3D CAD parts and assemblies, 2D CAD drawings, EDA PCB layouts and schematics, raster, vector, hybrid and office documents.

Formats supported include: CATIA, UG, Pro/E, JT, Inventor, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, HPGL, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Board Station, Orcad, EDIF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, TIFF etc.
