Emerson Power Transmission has extended adoption of CDS Configurators for online configuring and 3D CAD model delivery of its Browning Series 7000 gearmotors and reducers.
Emerson Power Transmission has extended adoption of CDS Configurators (with patent-pending Visual Constraint Feedback) for online configuring and 3D CAD model delivery of its Browning Series 7000 gearmotors and reducers.
This implementation adds to the existing Emerson Power Transmission use of the CDS configurator technology for the CbN 3000 product range.
The Series 7000 can be ordered and built in more than a million possible ways of which some 60,000 different dimensional configurations are available.
It's naturally prohibitively expensive to build and stock 60,000 CAD model variations.
"We wanted an 'expert system' that integrates deep knowledge of the product and makes an advanced user experience readily available, online 24/7, to the designer for selecting and ordering our complex product 3D CAD models", said Marc Macaluso, eBusiness Manager for Emerson Power Transmission.
"We chose CDS for rapid delivery, price competitiveness and for the 'wow factor' of its Visual Constraint Feedback technology".
"In a complex product, users usually don't know the constraints and they almost certainly don't know the interdependence of those constraints (ie if you select X you are giving up option Y in selection Z)".
