The 100th unit of the Handyscan 3D was sold last month to Visteon, a car interior plastic trim part supplier.

The Handyscan 3D laser scanner was launched last autumn, and the self positioned scanner has revolutionised the market The Handyscan 3D does not required an arm CMM for its operation

These features are critical for many automotive manufacturers, aerospace designers, mechanical engineers and plastic mould manufacturers.

The 100th unit of the Handyscan 3D was sold last month to Visteon, a car interior plastic trim part supplier.

The unit will be used in the testing laboratory of the Visteon Technical Centre in France.

The need of the engineering team in the lab at Visteon was to analyse and evaluate the plastic deformation resulting from many thermal and climatic tests, including sun load tests.

"The Handyscan 3D meets all of our needs, we need to scan the car interior before and after sun load test to measure the exact geometrical deformation", says Bruno Cappuyns, Team leader Essais and Metrologie at Visteon.

"With the Handyscan 3D, we will improve our ability to analyse the origin of the geometrical evolution".

The engineering team will save about one hour for each solar deformation test.
