A custom-made gauge measures steel plate in the range 6 to 150mm with an accuracy of less than +/-160um.
This year the focus of the academy will be on control design for thickness, width, profile, flatness and temperature with a impressive line-up of leading international experts in hot and cold mill control systems.
As well as providing an in-depth understanding of the theory they will also explain the potential of advances in multivariable control, predictive control, condition monitoring systems and mill simulations, together with the practical issues involved in implementing rolling mill control systems.
Practical session with interactive PC-based demonstrations will explore the control principles behind the techniques presented by speakers.
The wide range of subjects covered in the practical sessions will also enable delegates to focus on their own interests.
To ensure that each delegate receives individual attention Numbers on the course are restricted, so immediate registration is therefore strongly advised to secure a place.
A down-loadable programme and registration information can be found on the company's website.
Chris Fryer, Converteam's Industry Systems Division Chief Engineer emphasised the value of the academy as an important opportunity to exchange latest information and new ideas.
"This year we have located the event in the key market of China, one of the largest and fastest growing steel economies in the world".
"Mill processes need to be constantly up-dated and improved to keep pace with yield and quality requirements and the Rolling Mill Academy seeks to support that aim".
The 2007 Rolling Mill Academy follows from previous successful courses held in Amsterdam, Netherlands (2006); Pittsburgh, USA (2005); and Rugby, UK (2004).
