The latest addition to the Clare Instruments range of leading edge electrical safety testers is a dedicated tester for the lighting industry The new SafeTest Luminaire has been designed for manufacturers of lighting products who need to meet electrical safety standards

The new benchtop instrument meets all the requirements of the Lighting Association code of practice, as well as the international standards IEC598 and UL1598.

The SafeTest Luminaire can be operated as a simple manual tester or for automatic test sequencing and performs all the required safety tests, including earth bond, insulation resistance, class I and class 11 AC flash/hi-pot, load/run test, continuity and polarity tests.

Simple pushbutton operation and easy-to-follow on-screen user instructions makes test activation fast and simple.

In addition, test sequences and product serial numbers can be scanned into the tester and stored against test results for quality control records.

All tests are individually user selectable and an internal memory has the capacity to store the results of 1000 tests.

A PC interface is also provided for further storage and analysis of measured data.

The new tester also comes with an optional safety label printer that enables the automatic production of test tags, labels and test reports immediately as tests are undertaken.

Special safety interlocks and protection routines provide enhanced operator safety and a full range of test station accessories can also be supplied, including warning beacons for test areas in factories or production locations to meet the EN50191 guidelines.
