Electrical tester improves rental safety
The Clare test kit enables all three-phase electrical equipment to be thoroughly and safely tested without the need for the service engineer to dismantle the plug and fit links between phases,
Clare Instruments has developed a product to verify the safety of three-phase electrical equipment or tools used within the hire and rental sector Companies hiring out this type of equipment are duty bound by HSE legislation and the Electricity at Work Regulations, which require that rental equipment be safety tested before each hire

Tough, portable and reliable, the Horizon II is designed for HiPot testing up to 1500V DC/1067V AC within the most demanding of production test environments.
Testing system handles multiple products
Each power tool range includes different product models, creating different electrical compliance standards and performance test requirements.
The appliance safety tests performed must be in line with the routine tests originally applied by the manufacturer to meet the LVD and CE mark and will always include the flash/hipot test to check the quality of the product insulation.
The Clare test kit enables all three-phase electrical equipment to be thoroughly and safely tested without the need for the service engineer to dismantle the plug and fit links between phases, to ensure that the mandatory flash/Hipot test is correctly applied.
The test kit achieves this by featuring internal HV switching which is controlled by an isolated selector switch.
The three-phase test kit is itself fed from a low voltage supply and test selection is controlled by a rotary switch which is fully isolated from the test voltages used.
Each of the three phases are tested sequentially, using adapter leads that cater for all typical three phase product configurations.
The kit greatly enhances productivity and is supplied with 16 and 32A configurations for three-phase products with 3P+E, 3P+N+E configurations.
This allows faults to be located within each phase.
The accessory kit enables existing test products such as the Clare B255 and the benchtop SafeCheck 8 hire tool testers to be adapted to test three-phase appliances and equipment..
This test accessory also allows a current clamp meter to be attached safely to each phase during the functional or run test of the product/appliance.
This enables the phase currents to be measured accurately during the function test which is essential to confirm that a three phase product is operating correctly and does not have any internal damage or mechanical failure.
The three-phase test adapter kit can also be combined with the Desk Test and Tag label printer and barcode scanner to provide a fully self-contained, traceable and time saving electrical safety testing solution to verify that all equipment has been tested between hires.
