One of the most prestigious awards in the engineering industry, the GTMA World Class Golden Globe, has been won for the second year running by one of the UK's leading engineering specialists.
One of the most prestigious awards in the engineering industry, the GTMA World Class Golden Globe, has been won for the second year running by one of the UK's leading engineering specialists.
Knaresborough based Claro Precision Engineering Ltd picked up the coveted award at the GTMA World Class awards ceremony in Loughborough recently from Geoff Highley, the former Operations Manager of McLaren International.
The awards, always strongly contested, celebrate the achievements of companies who constantly strive to search for ways to improve performance and service, something that drives the very best organisations.
And the premier award, the World Class Golden Globe is awarded to the company which does that better than everyone else.
Before presenting the award, Highley commented: "To be world class, a company needs to do far more than merely survive".
"It has to pro-actively tailor and evolve its products, processes and business strategies to create maximum business success in a constantly changing market".
Claro Managing Director Howard Chadwick collected the award, along with fellow director Tim Godolphin.
Chadwick said: "We are delighted to receive the Golden Globe again, and to be recognised at this level for the quality of the work we do".
"To compete in the global market it is vital to invest consistently at a high level".
"At Claro we recognise the importance of offering customers a complete service with maximum valued added".
"It is really all about getting the best equipment and then using it in the smartest way", he added.
And it is not only in terms of equipment that Claro invest in the best - staff are another vital ingredient in Claro's success - and the company believes it has the best.
CNC Machinist Stuart Whitehouse attended the ceremony, held at the 600 Centre, to pick up his craftsmanship certificate, and was also awarded with a trophy and a cheque for his training.
From small beginnings over 25 years ago Claro has grown rapidly - today it has a workforce of 45 and is continuing to expand.
A number of key decisions over the past two years have been made which has helped it to achieve, and then maintain, its place at the very highest level.
These have included a complete redesign of the factory floor, improvements to its environmental and waste controls, and investing heavily in new equipment.
Chadwick concluded: "Winning this award for the second year in a row is proof that the Claro philosophy of continual improvement is the right one".
"We are determined to maintain our world class status and will continue to invest in the best - both equipment and people".
