Product recovery system helps Cussons clean up
The installation of a product recovery and waste minimisation system at its Nottingham site has delivered significant time and cost savings to toiletries manufacturer PZ Cussons.
Under the company's old system, key exchange units fitted with run-down timers forced personnel to adhere to a fixed-delay time period before entry to the presses was granted.
Some of BOCM Pauls' products are sensitive to moisture during their production and frequently cause the pellet presses to become blocked.
Previously, when such blockages occurred, the fixed run-down time would often overcompensate for the amount of product inside the presses.
This caused operatives to wait longer than necessary before they were able to open the presses' access doors.
By contrast, Castell's BEMF units measure the electromotive force generated by the rotating pellet dies and release an access key at the same moment as the dies come to a complete stop.
This ensures that personnel can gain entry to the pellet presses straight away, thereby avoiding any wasted time.
"Castell's products have granted us faster safe access to our machinery", says Martin Bates, Site Manager at BOCM Pauls.
"The BEMF units are well made and reliable, and I was also impressed by Castell's technical assistance".
