Calex announces Model 4800 summing transmitter

A Calex Electronics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 3, 2008

Calex Electronics has announced the availability of the Model 4800 summing transmitter, a cost-effective unit for multiple load cell systems.

The 4800 can accept both AC and DC power inputs, power up to four load cells, provides three-way isolation, and four output options.

All input/output options are included on the 4800 as provided by the factory.

The 4800 has the capability to be powered from 115V AC, 230V AC, or 11-30V DC.

It has a built-in excitation supply capable of delivering up to 120mA at 10V, more than enough current to drive four 350 ohm load cells.

The 4800 provides complete three-way signal isolation.

The input is isolated from the output and both are isolated from the supply voltage, eliminating unwanted ground loop problems.

The output options available on the 4800 are 0-20mA or 0-10V and 4-20mA or 2-10V.

Overall accuracy over the normal room temperature range is at <+/- 0.1 per cent of full scale.

The high gain, low drift and low temperature coefficient of the 4800 amplifier allows full scale live load signals as low as 5mV to be amplified to 20mA or 10V with an overall accuracy of +/- 0.1 per cent.

Designed with large and stable tare offset requirements in mind, the 4800 can tare off up to 80 per cent of the output of a 3mV/V load cell (at 10V excitation).

The dimensions of the standalone unit are 9.0in length x 7.25in width x 2.2in height.

All connections are made via easily accessible screw terminals.

All potentiometers are located for ease of adjustment as well.

The Model 4800 can be ordered with the choice of two NEMA enclosures or standalone.
