Line takes the brakes off production

A Clyde Materials Handling product story

When TMD Friction was looking to increase production demand at its Cleckheaton plant, it approached Clyde Materials Handling to provide a solution to a difficult materials handling problem.

When TMD Friction, a world leader in brake pad manufacture, was looking to increase production demand at its Cleckheaton plant, it approached Clyde Materials Handling to provide a solution to a difficult materials handling problem.

TMD's manufacturing process presented a difficult conveying problem and involved pneumatically conveying materials with poor flow characteristics from storage right through to manufacture and brake pad assembly point.

One of the main criteria for the system was minimum segregation of the product during transfer.

Clyde rose to the challenge, drawing on experience gained over many years of handling a whole range of difficult materials, the company's research and development team, using the latest technology, was able to run comprehensive trials at its Doncaster test facility which successfully replicated the client's exact on site conditions and demanding production needs.

Clyde's solution was to successfully install a customised, Dense Phase Pnuematic conveying system at the Cleckheaton plant which met the client's requirements.

So, in January this year when TMD Friction wished to extend the existing facility, it again approached Clyde and despite an already busy schedule, tight delivery programme and installation window critical to match product demand, Clyde was again able to accommodate its client's needs.

Clyde's original system, supplied in 1998, had been designed with expansion in mind.

And as TMD Friction's production demand has risen Clyde has been able to increase the capacity of the system to accommodate TMDss growing needs with little or no disruption to the existing plant.
