The 'quick connect' range of industrial plugs and sockets available from Cee Norm UK has been even further improved to achieve faster assembly times.

These products have fast been gaining popularity with electrical contractors, installers and service engineers, with their time saving advantages also recognised by OEM companies producing power fed equipment subject to outdoor or heavy duty operating conditions.

Previous cable clamping in the 'quick-connect' range involved tightening two screws, and this has now been replaced by an automatic multi-point clamping system making the products a totally 'screwless' assembly procedure.

This means that making cable terminations, cable-cord clamping, and closing the two moulded halves of a plug or socket assembly can now all be achieved in only a matter of seconds.

A reverse procedure to remove or replace fittings is equally fast, minimising breakdown times and loss of production through maintenance or repair work.

Conductors are simply inserted into terminals and clamped or released by depressing or lifting contact slides.

The two moulded halves of a plug or socket fitting are opened by releasing a spring catch and twisting both halves in opposite directions to separate.

To close, the two mating halves are simply twisted and automatically locked together with multipoint bayonet catches for positive engagement.

This locking procedure also activates an internal captive cable-cord clamp which locks the cable securely in position during the twist-to-close operation.

This method of assembly is swift, safe and secure, providing a cable pull-out load which is equal to or exceeds that for conventional screwed assemblies.

IP44 sealing protection is available as standard with full IP67 level also available if required.

No tools are needed for the wiring-up procedure and there are no loose components or screws which can become mislaid to jeopardise safety ratings.

The 'quick-connect' products now include sleeved plugs and sockets, together with both surface and panel mounted sockets.

These can be supplied in a combination of three-, four or five-pole configurations, for 110, 240 or 415V operation in 16 and 32A current ratings.
