Cofes 2006, being held from 20th to 23rd April 2006 in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, is an invitation-only industry event for the design side of the PLM and BIM community.

Cyon Research, a provider of analysis and consulting for engineering-technology markets, and host of Cofes (Congress on the Future of Engineering Software), announced that Cofes 2006 has seen unprecedented rates of registration and the think tank will open with record levels of participation next month.

Cofes 2006, being held from 20th to 23rd April 2006 in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, is an invitation-only industry event for the design side of the PLM and BIM community.

Sponsors include Microsoft, UGS, Spatial, Autodesk, Targeted Advertising Consortium, CAD Society, Cadcamnet, Innovate Forum, Solidworks, Oce and Seemage.

Hosting technology suites this year are Adobe, Apple, Cadwire, Cubic Eye, Infinite Z, Kubotek, Mathsoft, Dassault Systemes, IBM, PTC and UGS.

A major focus of Cofes this year is its Innovate Button campaign: "Wouldn't it be great if there was a button we could push and innovation would just happen?".

Cofes 2006 will examine some new technologies that hint that the fantasy innovate button might not be that unrealistic six to 10 years down the road.

Innovation, both the inspiration and perspiration aspects, will be explored at Cofes, including an examination of the role manufacturers, architects and designers play to help leverage innovation with engineering technology to reach business goals.

Keynote speaker Alan Cooper, author of "The Inmates are Running the Asylum", will look into the world of what-if, addressing engineers need to understand and anticipate the needs of the users of software and computer products.

"Alan Cooper's background and experience in both the software development and product design communities makes him the perfect person to take on the topic of innovation at Cofes", said Rick Stavanja, VP and CIO of Cyon Research.

"He is a pioneer of innovation, and his unique forward thinking has influenced an entire generation of designers of software, products and business processes".

Brad Holtz said: "Cofes 2006 is set to be our most impressive yet, with record attendance".

"Cofes has demonstrated that wonderful synergies take place when you bring together the leading minds in the engineering software industry and allow them to communicate with one another".

"We think of it as an environment of enhanced serendipity".
