Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 4, 2006

CADCAMNet has announced the appointment of Randall S Newton as Editor-in-Chief.

CADCAMNet, Cyon Research's weekly subscription newsletter and online resource of news and analysis of CAD and CAM technologies, has announced the appointment of Randall S Newton as Editor-in-Chief.

Newton, a veteran journalist with 20 years of experience in the CAD industry, will continue the editorial duties of his own online journal, AECnews.com, while assuming the new position at CADCAMNet.

Newton was the founding Editor-in-Chief of CADD Times magazine and served as the editor of MicroStation Manager for five years.

He is the author of seven books on CAD software, including the best-selling Inside Generic CADD.

For a time he served as lead developer for a line of CAD productivity tools.

He has recently been the editor of AECnews.com, and has been responsible for breaking industry news such as the SketchUp/Google acquisition.

"Randall continues to have gravitas across the entire CAD industry with compelling analysis and piercing predictions of what will be, or what could be", says Brad Holtz, CEO, Cyon Research.

"We think he will carry great impact on CADCAMNet as well as the industry".

Newton will replace the current Editor-in-Chief of CADCAMNet, David Cohn, on 15th September 2006.

Cohn is leaving to pursue a career opportunity in architecture and will continue to offer consultancy to Cyon Research as well as commentary to CADCAMNet in the future.
