Cyon Research Corporation has added Dana "Deke" Smith to its team of knowledgeable experts on business and technology.

Smith comes to Cyon Research with over 30 years of CAD industry experience.

Smith is the founder and current chair of the National Institute of Building Sciences Facility Information Council, which houses the US National Computer Aided Design Standard, as well as the evolving National Building Information Model Standard.

"I hope that my experiences will provide others with success", Smith said.

"Cyon Research is a strong component in this industry, and I am keen to offer my knowledge to contribute to its success".

Smith has been a shaping factor in the moulding of the CAD industry, with his participation in the NIBS Construction Criteria Base, now Whole Building Design Guide.

His contributions to the industry are seemingly endless, as he was also a participant in the initiation of both the American Institute of Architects CAD Layering Guidelines, as well as the Construction Specifications Institute Uniformat II.

His efforts have been recognised with a Federal 100 award and the 2006 CAD Society Leadership award.

"I am delighted to welcome Deke onboard", says Cyon Research CEO Brad Holtz.

"He has an uncanny ability to get to the root and find a practical solution in politically charged situations".

"Deke will be a strong asset for our research and practice in the AEC markets".
