"The globalisation of engineering" is the theme of this year's COFES industry conference, which will be held in April in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Cyon Research Corporation, host of the Congress on the Future of Engineering Software (COFES), has unveiled "The globalisation of engineering" as the theme of this year's COFES industry conference, which will be held in April in Scottsdale, Arizona.

COFES represents the meeting of the best minds of the engineering software industry, providing an intensive conference atmosphere for both private and public discussions.

The yearly event gives executives, end users, CAD and PLM vendors, analysts, as well as the press a chance to address the business issues in engineering technologies.

According to Cyon Research and COFES cofounder Joel Orr, the in-depth international discussion planned for this year will be valuable, since many operations in the industry are already spread across continents.

"Engineering software is an international affair", says Orr.

"Many COFES participants come from companies who use foreign suppliers, serve foreign customers, or face foreign competitors".

"To truly understand the global playing field, perhaps the best course of action is to start talking and listening".

The engaging and insightful conversations of COFES expanded this past year to include many international voices, leading to the COFES India Summit, held in November 2006 in New Delhi.

The meeting brought together US software executives and top players in Indian software, manufacturing, and government.

Many of the delegates of the historic India Summit have been invited to the stateside COFES event to continue the summit's discussion and prepare the agenda for a future COFES Asia event.

For COFES 2007, this industry dialogue widens to include the concerns of engineering organisations operating in the global environment.

"This April in Scottsdale we will turn the spotlight of our attention onto the globalisation of our industry", explains Orr.

"How has it affected business and technology?".

"What further evolution of business models and environment should we expect?".

COFES welcomes all delegates this year to participate in an international dialogue through open-ended discussion groups, analyst briefings, and colloquia that address the theme of the global technological marketplace.

As always, the vital conversation at COFES will foster innovative and strategic thinking and the building of community.

"The COFES event provides a unique forum for the CAD/CAM industry to channel our competitive instincts into better engineering solutions for customers", said Robert Bean, Kubotek USA's Chief Operating Officer.

"Kubotek USA can speak from experience that many strategic relationships have been hatched at COFES".
