David Weisberg has written a history book covering more than 60 years of CAD technology, drawing on interviews on the pioneers of the technology.

Cyon Research has released a book on the history of the computer-aided design (CAD) industry.

The book is titled "The Engineering Design Revolution - The People, Companies and Computer Systems That Changed Forever the Practice of Engineering", and is written by David Weisberg.

Weisberg started the project when he recognised that we were losing the pioneers of the industry.

He took up the task of interviewing those pioneers and the result, five years later, is a history covering more than 60 years of CAD technology, starting with the development of numerical control tooling in the mid 1940s at MIT, through the early days of academic research and an in-depth discussion of the companies and people who made this industry a reality.

Dr Jon Peddie, President of Jon Peddie Research, said "Dave's work with this book represents a lifetime of involvement and passion for the CAD market".

"No one is better qualified to cover this topic and present it in such a readable fashion".

The book is downloadable in PDF format at no charge.
