Digital servo drives require minimal setup
Control Techniques new En-Series digital servo drives meet all the demands of contemporary motion systems for compactness, reliability, high performance, ease of use and cost.
Control Techniques new En-Series digital servo drives meet all the demands of contemporary motion systems for compactness, reliability, high performance, ease of use and cost.
The drives integrate state-of the art DSP, ASIC and surface mount technologies in a "ready-to-use" package that, for most applications, can be configured in less than two minutes.
The digital En-Series is the latest element in Control Techniques strategy of providing powerful and cost effective servo drives to suit applications in all market sectors.
The drives are designed primarily for OEM use and are particularly suited to tasks such as packaging and automated assembly.
The appeal of the En-Series as an OEM drive results from its ease of set-up and ability to handle a wide load range without the need for adjustments.
Using powerful WindowsTM-based PowerToolsTM software most applications for the En-Series can be configured in less than two minutes.
In addition, the drives will also operate with up to a 10:1 load to motor inertia ratio right out of the box.
Performance can be further optimised in specific applications by setting just three easy-to-understand parameters - Inertia, Friction and Response - as opposed to cumbersome PID terminology.
These three parameters can also be set intuitively to permit operation with an inertia mismatch of up to 50:1! The simplified yet powerful functionality of the En-Series, with just three command modes: analogue, pulse, and preset velocity, and their numerous variations, make the En-Series drives the ideal solution to many applications.
The provision of an industry-standard Modbus protocol (up to 19.2kbaud) communication port further extends the capability of the drives by enabling them to be integrated into factory wide automation systems.
While at the factory floor level, sophisticated diagnostics, including an on-board display, guarantee users complete transparency in drive operation.
The En-Series consists of three drive models that provide continuous rated output current of 4.5 to 13 amps.
When paired with Control Techniques EZ brushless servo motors (rated 1 to 15Nm) exceptionally high torque to inertia ratings can be achieved.
The combination also delivers impressively smooth motion, thanks to the En-Series sinusoidal commutation function.
This ensures low torque ripple at low speeds and allows nearly constant torque to be achieved throughout the motor cycle.
Snap-On Modules Are Convenient Way To Increase Drive Functionality.
The already wide functionality of the En-Series can be extended, easily and cost effectively, via four "snap-on" modules.
The first of these, the FM-P Portable Function Module, is designed as a set-up and diagnostic tool.
It also functions as a utility for copying set-up data between En-Series drives.
The FM-1 Speed Module is the second in the series.
It provides additional I/O, velocity, ratio and torque presets, summation modes, and multiple operating modes.
The third unit, the FM-2, is an Indexing Module that transforms the drive into a positioning system, adding jog, home, and index capabilities.
It also provides additional I/O.
The final module in the series, the FM-3, is also the newest.
The FM-3 expands the capability of the FM-2 module with greater indexing and synchronisation control, and allows the chaining together of multiple moves and complex motion profiles.
The En-Series offer users the security of a two year warranty.
This, combined with CE, UL and Canadian UL approvals, underlines the quality and reliability of what is an exceptional range of drives.
