According to Control Techniques, its new Solutions software packages for AC, DC and servo drive applications will allow both OEMs and users to cut costs and improve competitiveness.
The standardised packages, including winder control, flying shear control and fan and pump duty assist, enable drive systems to be commissioned much faster at lower cost with reduced risk and greater certainty of "right first time" operation.
Control Techniques has developed the Solutions packages to enable OEMs and machine developers to avoid the time, effort and expense spent in writing specific software packages for what are really mainstream drive applications.
Apart from the cost, there are many pitfalls in the specialist approach: often the software is dependent upon the engineer that wrote it, and impenetrable to other engineers that have to use or maintain the machine.
The result can be disastrous downtime, resulting in lost orders, production or even worse.
Taking the standardised approach offered by Control Techniques Solutions software overcomes these problems and brings certainty to the application process.
Written by experts in the technologies concerned, the Solutions software is transparent to all and backed-up by the expertise and experience of the largest UK manufacturer of specialist drive systems.
The fact that the Solutions software is hardware independent also means that customers can evolve through product hardware platforms whilst, crucially, maintaining the same software continuity.
This means that OEMs do not become involved in a cost spiral of "next generation software specific products", which can only add to their costs and impair competitiveness.
The initial launch of the Solutions software includes three packages for winder control, flying shear, fans and pumps and duty assist.
These are the first in what Control Techniques intends to be a whole library of such packages, all precisely tailored by Control Techniques industry experts to provide specific off-the shelf functionality at very reasonable cost.
Representing excellent value for money, the packages include a CD with all software and installation utilities, plus the full user manual as an Adobe Acrobat file.
In addition, an extremely comprehensive "getting started" guide is supplied for each application.
