Cognex acquires Image Industries

Cognex Corporation, the supplier of machine vision systems, has acquired Image Industries, of Epsom, the UK-based provider of machine vision systems to end users.

With an acquisition which reportedly makes Cognex market leader in the UK, Cognex Corporation, the supplier of machine vision systems, has acquired Image Industries, of Epsom, the UK-based provider of machine vision systems to end users.

Under the terms of the acquisition, Cognex has purchased all of the outstanding shares of Image Industries for an undisclosed amount of cash and stock.

Cognex expects to retain the 15 employees of Image Industries and to maintain operations in the current facility.

The sales and support staff will be integrated with Cognex's existing sales and support organisation creating the largest machine vision team in the UK with a total of 28 employees.

The research and development staff of Image Industries will operate as a remote product development group and will focus on the development of highly compact, low cost vision systems for the end-user market.
