Low cost system simplifies packaging
inspection
A new off-the-shelf vision system has been designed specifically for packaging applications where high levels of print readability and obtaining print process feedback are critical
Cognex has introduced the Print Presence Verification Plus (PPV+), an off-the-shelf vision system specifically for packaging applications in the consumer product, food and drink, medical and pharmaceutical industries where high levels of print readability and obtaining print process feedback are critical requirements PPV+ is a low cost, easy to implement solution which uses pre-configured software for print presence inspection and print verification of key information such as date, lot and product ID codes

Cognex has introduced Display Inspect - a machine vision software and hardware package for inspecting displays, keypads, and enclosures on LCD and LED display-based products.
PPV+ incorporates a new graphical user interface to greatly simplify the inspection set up process.
With absolutely no programming required the innovative 'Train and Go' interface allows anyone to set up the vision system quickly and correctly.
Whilst in general, vision systems are becoming simpler to configure, the new PPV+ product takes even less time and effort whilst still providing a fully configured vision solution.

Complex vision technology in an affordable unit
Cognex have introduced the In-Sight 2000, an entirely new type of industrial machine vision sensor at a cost usually associated with "smart cameras"
Rather than programming the vision system to carry out appropriate checks, the user simply drops boxes around the print areas of interest.
The PPV+ then takes care of the rest.
"PPV+ is one of a new generation of machine vision systems.
Pre-configured software and easy to use graphical interfaces provide an 'out of the box' solution for a specific industry application," says Geoff Collins, Cognex Sales Support Manager.
Powered by Cognex's PatFind technology, PPV+ provides grey-scale print presence and verification for all common label printing methods including laser, hotstamp, thermal and inkjet.
From any of these methods PPV+ is able to inspect up to 24 characters (2 lines of up to 12 characters each) verifying up to 600 parts per minute.
Available on the In-Sight 1000, 2000 and 3000 hardware platforms, PPV+ can be networked via DeviceNet, Ethernet and Ethernet/ IP.
This networking capability allows PPV+ to provide real-time print inspection feedback.
It also means that a number of PPV+'s can be placed at various points on the production line and are able to communicate together and with other components on the network.
"The PPV+ is the latest in a new line of off-the-shelf products from Cognex.
Other products available include In-Sight 1700, a wafer reader for the semiconductor industry and In-Sight 1010 for inspecting 2D matrix and bar codes, in a variety of industries such as the Automotive, Pharmaceutical and Aerospace sectors," says Collins. Request a free brochure from Cognex UK ...
