CoCreate Software has a new series of collaborative design solutions aimed at the plastics design to mould base manufacture process.

From initial concepts for plastic products to complete development of the mould base assembly, two preconfigured solution packs target the two key stages of the entire process: the Mold Design pack supports the design of plastic parts, including core and cavity creation; and the Mold Solution pack supports the design of complete mold base assemblies, including core and cavity, through the use of knowledge based and access to 15 commercial catalogues.

Both solutions are "collaboration ready", enabling companies to design collaboratively in real-time with customers and suppliers using OneSpace Adviser and the corresponding collaborative service.

The software helps companies catch potential design flaws earlier in the process, reduce travel, increase the quality of their final products and tooling, and increase collaboration and communication among all contributors.

CoCreate's Mold Design pack includes all of the key capabilities product designers need to create plastic parts, core and cavities, and to consider the design-for-manufacture aspects of designing plastic components.

The pack provides a rich set of capabilities for creating high-precision high-complexity injection-molded plastic parts.

CoCreate's Mold Solution pack includes all key capabilities to create the corresponding mould base assembly, including core and cavities, and to consider design-for-manufacture aspects of the mould base.

CoCreate's Dynamic Modeling Open Extensions (DMOX) is designed especially for working with imported designs, and the technology is available in both process packs.

With DMOX, tool and moulding, engineers can now leverage 3D data directly from any CAD source, using a wide range of industry and standard formats, without having to remodel any of the original product data, even while they are working on the data, and adjusting blends, fillets and tapers.

The two packs are both "collaboration ready", allowing designers to collaborate with their customers and suppliers immediately.

Two additional options enable collaboration and are available for the plastics design-to-manufacture process: the personal collaboration service supports a virtual meeting of two people and is the ideal solution for collaborative design between tool designers and their suppliers; and the project collaboration service supports collaborative design among a project team of up to five participants.

This solution is ideal for larger teams in which the customer, suppliers, parts designers and tool designers all collaborate.

With both services, participants can share 3D design data, and then view, mark up and drive 3D design changes together.

The services, supported by OneSpace Designer and Adviser, allow teams to collaborate securely, with the added protection of industry-standard 128bit SSL encryption.

"Our collaboration-ready solutions enable our tooling and molding customers to establish the highest levels of customer relationships", said Tilman Schad, president and CEO of CoCreate.

"And that helps establish higher customer loyalty, and, ultimately, generate more business".

"We've been able to improve our new product offerings by incorporating the knowledge and experience of more than 1000 customers working with plastics, tools and molds", said Ulrich Mahle, vice president of Engineering at CoCreate.

"These new offerings dramatically accelerate the design-to-manufacture process".

Both packs are available now and run on Windows and Unix platforms.
