Venture Industries, one of General Motors' top five suppliers, designs and manufacturers molded parts for automotive interiors, exteriors and composites.

The company has grown at a tremendous pace in recent years, largely through the acquisition of other companies, and as a result needed an enterprise-wide solution for integrating design, development and engineering processes across its many subsidiaries.

The solution is designed to leverage the Web to extend product development processes that help shorten design cycles, reduce time-to-market and improve product quality.

This enables engineers to collaborate even if they reside in different states or countries thus reducing travel cost and design time.

OneSpace is also "CAD-neutral", so engineers can continue using the CAD systems they prefer, yet collaborate with colleagues that own different brands of CAD software limiting the interoperability issues that increase total design chain cost.

Venture plans to use the combined capabilities of eMatrix and OneSpace to stage the design process based on the sign-off of key project managers.

The combined usage of formal design reviews with "ad-hoc" problem solving sessions will greatly speed the time needed to get approvals from such entities as manufacturing, tooling and quality.
