"At Microsoft, we stay competitive by adopting technology a bit ahead of the curve - but only for technologies that show a real value.
OneSpace Collaboration falls into that category".
Microsoft selected the CoCreate product as part of a larger effort to cut product development costs and time by two-thirds through the use of outsourced design partners.
"OneSpace Collaboration is a good choice for us", said Nielsen.
"We're trying to communicate complex, innovative product ideas to design and supply chain partners who don't speak English as their first language.
OneSpace Collaboration lets us communicate accurately and quickly and resolve problems in real time".
They found that the CoCreate software complements their existing CAD and communication tools.
"CoCreate understands the design process", said Nielsen.
"Their software didn't require us to replace our existing CAD or PLM software.
It provides the horsepower and security we need for design collaboration and fits with all the processes we already have in place".
Microsoft first purchased the OneSpace Success service, a pilot programme that provides software and consulting for the period of a single project.
"We knew within a few weeks that we wanted to expand our usage", said Nielsen.
"In less than four days, we installed the software, trained our users and began solving engineering problems with our distributed design team.
We've found OneSpace Collaboration to be simply useful".
"We're pleased to be one of the very few companies supplying software to Microsoft", said William M Gascoigne, CoCreate CEO.
"Companies around the world are continuing to come to CoCreate for products that are easily deployable, solve real problems and have a proven, rapid payback".
