The latest version of the OneSpace Solution Suite includes key improvements for customers in the automotive and aerospace industries.

The latest version of the OneSpace Solution Suite (11.61) includes key improvements for customers in the automotive and aerospace industries.

New features include a Catia v.5 adapter so that files from Catia (which is popular among automotive and aerospace vendors) can now be read into OneSpace Collaboration meetings.

Also, OneSpace products are now supported on the AIX 4.3.3 and Solaris 8 and 9 operating systems, with continuing support on HP-UX 11 and all major Windows platforms.

These new additions enhance OneSpace Collaboration's existing suite of tools, which also serve automotive and aerospace companies that work extensively with partners, OEMs, or suppliers.

Design data from a variety of sources, including all CAD formats used in automotive and aerospace, can be brought into a meeting for review, inspection, and modification.

"Lack of interoperability among CAD systems costs the automotive industry over $1 billion a year according to published research", said Ken Versprille, senior analyst, DH Brown Associates.

"The industry has applied considerable effort to unify standards, but with no real success so far.

CoCreate takes a unique approach with their solution, which avoids translation all together".

"Typically, automotive companies create their finished product after thousands of contacts between the OEM and their suppliers", said Versprille.

"Dispersed design teams using different CAD systems can now communicate, resolve problems, establish accountability, and document decisions using OneSpace Collaboration".

Major automotive suppliers, such as TRW Automotive and Venture Industries, already use CoCreate Collaboration products to communicate with OEMs, vendors, and among themselves.

Today's announcement makes OneSpace Collaboration more attractive for companies in these industries.

"OneSpace Collaboration offers value to the automotive and aerospace industries unlike any other tool", said William M Gascoigne, CoCreate Software CEO.

"Most companies are realising that value, not in years, but in mere weeks after adopting our technology".

Venture Industries, one of General Motors top five suppliers, agreed.

"CoCreate provides a collaboration solution that is robust, easy to deploy, and flexible", said Charles Hunter, President, Venture Global Engineering.

"It lets us integrate design processes regardless of where they originate, and to identify and capture potential problems before they can have a large impact on turnaround times or costs".
