Bedeschi has purchased 14 OneSpace Designer Modeling and 14 OneSpace Model Manager licences for its engineers with plans to continue expansion this year.

For nearly a century, the Limena, Italy-based company has been an innovative manufacturer of machinery for the production of roofing tiles and bricks, and bulk materials handling and crushing equipment.

Bedeschi designs and produces an impressive portfolio of heavy equipment, 80% of which is exported globally.

Bedeschi, credited with the invention of the first award-winning extruder, is still recognised today for its state-of-the-art extruders, characterised by minimum auger revolutions, high productivity and remarkable energy savings.

Despite its history of continued success, mounting pressure in the industry prompted Bedeschi to examine its design process.

Finding that improvements would increase the quality of the design process and consequently product quality as well, Bedeschi management also saw the benefit of presenting designs to customers in 3D.

When the company first concluded that its 2D design system was inadequate, it adopted a parametric-based 3D system.

But the history-based system made it very difficult to modify models, and early detection of design problems such as interference and clashing of assemblies was complex, and team work was not an option.

Bedeschi sought another solution, benchmarking several 3D design products.

CoCreate's OneSpace Designer Modeling was the hands-down favourite and product of choice because of its ease of use and its dynamic modelling capabilities.

Dynamic modelling is a technology that allows any designer to step in and pick up work on a model without understanding its history or constraint scheme.

CoCreate's sales partner CDM Isigraf secured the sale to Bedeschi.

"We were sure that Bedeschi would be pleased with OneSpace Modeling because it lets them import customer and supplier models from other systems to be modified or adapted", said Giuseppe Naummi, Sales Area Manager at CDM Isigraf.

"Existing parts can be easily re-used for new projects.

Engineers learn to use the modelling software in just a few days, so that concerns about down-time, upheaval, and discord among engineers when updating a system are unfounded".
