Murdter Werkzeug-und Formenbau has streamlined product development among its European facilities using OneSpace.net.

"OneSpace.net helps us manage development between our German and Czech sites", said Georg Esswein, Manager Product Development at Murdter.

"We use the software to meet frequently online for design reviews".

Murdter manufactures injection moulding tools and plastic parts for major automotive companies like Daimler Chrysler, TRW Automotive, Porsche and BMW.

In 1993, Murdter founded the first plant in the Czech Republic (toolmaking) and added a second plant in 2000 (plastics processing) to maximise growth through lower labour costs.

"With these online meetings, we codesign products with more accuracy than we traditionally experienced with travel and face-to-face meetings", said Esswein.

"We don't have to wait for an airplane or rely on e-mail to communicate or resolve issues".

"We just start OneSpace.net".

As a result, product development moves faster, costs less, and requires little rework.

OneSpace.net is a collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) software.

Project members and customers anywhere can view models and other data online with the tool's two-way application-sharing function, built specifically for engineers so that it can work with large graphic files without bogging down.

"Teams use it to discuss, inspect, and change drawings, models and interfaces during our design reviews", says Esswein.

Plus, team members now experiment online with design change ideas.

"With application sharing, team members can see the consequences of changes in a model so that decisions can be made immediately", says Esswein.

"With input from all stakeholders we develop better products faster, and that actually works to strengthen our competitive edge".

Murdter first tried OneSpace.net using CoCreate's free trial, which includes free and direct support from CoCreate, if needed.
