High temperature brass couplings use MIM part

A Colder Products product story

CPC has introduced a new high temperature option for its 1/8in and 1/4in brass couplings that increases flow by 15-20% by using a metal injection molded stainless steel poppet

Colder Products Company (CPC) has introduced a new high temperature option for its 1/8" and 1/4" flow brass couplings that increases flow by 15-20%.

This new high temperature option utilizes a metal injection molded (MIM) stainless steel poppet as a more effective alternative to the machined brass poppets that were previously used as a high temperature option on these couplings.

The stainless steel poppet is stronger, has increased chemical compatibility and increases flow.

"This product is geared towards those customers who need a temperature rating above 180§ F," said CPC Market Manager Brad Ferstan.

" The applications for this product cover a wide variety of niche areas in the industrial market, and the dialysis market is a specific medical application where we have been able to solve a problem with our new stainless steel poppet." CPC's high temperature stainless steel poppet is manufactured through a more modern process called metal injection molding (MIM).

The process involves a very fine metal powder, combined with binder material, which is injected into a die.

"Although not a new process," stated Ferstan, "MIM is growing in popularity around the world, allowing manufacturers to make complex parts not possible when manufacturing by machine, at a fraction of the cost." CPC's quality system is ISO 9001-certified and CPC couplings have a worldwide reputation for repeatable, leak-free connections.
