The Premio Internazionale Novit 2004 award has been awarded to Colder Products Company (CPC) for its NS4 series non-spill couplings.

The Premio Internazionale Novit 2004 award has been awarded to Colder Products Company (CPC) for its NS4 series non-spill couplings.

This award recognises achievement in research and development by manufacturers in the hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical power transmission industry.

The award was presented to CPC at Fluidtrans Compomac 2004, the biennial international exhibition of power and motion transmission, drive, control equipment and industrial design held in Milan, Italy, February 18-21, 2004.

"We are very proud that our NS4 Series Non-Spill Coupling won the 2004 Premio Internazionale Novit award," said Jim Thomas, president, international, Colder Products Company.

"CPC dedicates significant resources to the development of advanced industrial fluid and air connection solutions that improve our customers businesses".

Introduced in May 2003, the NS4 features a non-spill shut-off valve that enhances operator safety and speeds connection time.

The non-spill coupling provides a lightweight, durable and economical replacement for expensive metal non-spill couplings, ball valves, and spill-prone fittings.

It is the second in a new series of non-spill couplings introduced by Colder Products in 2003.

The high-flow NS4 utilises a different non-spill valve design that is ideal for use in ink handling applications, chemical delivery systems, electronic cooling systems, instrumentation, and medical devices.

The main components of the NS4 are made out of glass-filled polypropylene with 316 stainless steel springs and EPDM or optional FKM o-ring seals, which provide high resistance to a wide variety of corrosive media.

The NS4's olefinic overmoulding increases the durability of the connection and provides a better grip for users.

The overmoulding is also used for colour-coding, which provides instant visual differentiation of diverse media lines.

Held every two years, the Premio Internazionale Novit award is organised by the Italian Association of Gears and Transmission Elements Manufacturers (ASSIOT), the Italian Association of Manufacturing and Trading Companies in Fluid Power Equipment and Components (ASSOFLUID), and VNU Business Publications Italia.
