Rick Garber has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing at Colder Products Company.

Garber, who developed Colder's award-winning radio frequency identification (RFID) capabilities and has become a leading advocate for smart technology, will oversee all of Colder's global marketing and sales support efforts.

A six-year veteran at Colder, Garber most recently served as the company's Smart Technology Business Unit Manager.

In that role, he successfully built Colder's RFID engineering and marketing departments and quickly established the Smart Technology Business Unit as a key driver in the company's growth strategy.

"Rick Garber brought smart technology from an idea to a reality at Colder", says Gary Rychley, President of Colder.

"He has made the technology a critical element of our coupling offerings and helped bring RFID to the forefront of the industries we serve".

"Due to his efforts, Colder is well positioned to cost-effectively address the evolving needs of our customers for smarter, more traceable processes".

Under Garber's leadership, Colder's RFID technology offering was recognised as a Silver Award winner in Plant Engineering's 2003 Product of the Year competition.

Colder also recently received a 2005 RFID Breakthrough Award.

In his new role, Garber will oversee Colder's Smart Technology, Industrial, Chemical/Packaging, Medical and Bioprocessing business units.

His responsibilities will include developing product road maps and strategic marketing plans, fostering client relationships and identifying growth opportunities for Colder worldwide.

He also will head up the company's marketing communications department.

Garber lives in St Paul, Minnesota, with his wife Gina and two children.

He holds an associate's degree from Brown Institute and a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota.
