Design lab takes on "classic" name

Coventry University has long established links with the charitable foundation the Bugatti Trust.
Members of the trust have been impressed by the work of Coventry University students for many years and already sponsor individual student prizes at the final year degree show.
The sponsorship of the Bugatti Building also extends to provision of a prestigious "Bugatti Lecture" series, based at the university.
The Associate Dean of Art and Design at Coventry University, Prof Clive Richards said: "We are delighted with this sponsorship for the design laboratory, especially so because of the association with such an illustrious name.
The Bugatti's pursuit of the visually stunning and the functionally excellent will be continued through the creative talent of the design students and researchers working in this superb facility".
The GBP 1.3 million project provides a full-size, drive-in 3D digitising bay together with a computer-aided styling studio and a digital presentation theatre.
The design laboratory not only supports research with both multinational and local companies but also provides undergraduate student finalists and postgraduates a unique and leading edge experience for their individual and collaborative projects.
Representatives from the Premier Automotive Group have also endorsed the facility, as have other leading organisations from the engineering and design sectors.
