Coventry University and the Society of Automotive Engineers have organised a special talk to be presented by JCB Dieselmax Director of Engineering, Dr Tim Leverton.

History was made on 23rd August 2006 when the JCB Dieselmax drove into the record books by becoming the world's fastest diesel powered vehicle Now that all the champagne corks have popped and the historical feat is just a wonderful memory of summer, the Director of Engineering of the project, Dr Tim Leverton is coming to Coventry to share his thoughts about the achievement and talk about the project, and he's bringing the vehicle with him

On Tuesday 20th February at 1900 GMT, Coventry University and the Society of Automotive Engineers have organised a special talk in the Goldstein Lecture Theatre for enthusiasts to get up to speed on how the whole venture evolved and hear in understandable technical terms about the engineering skills needed to get this project off the ground and into the record books.

John Owen, Head of Department, Industrial Design, from the University's School of Art and Design, said: "We are extremely honoured that Tim Leverton has taken time out of his busy schedule to talk about the design and development of the JCB Dieselmax".

"It was such a wonderful achievement which took years of research and testing, mainly because of the limitations they faced by using diesel power".

"I am sure anyone coming along to hear him speak will be fascinated by how it all came about and there is the added bonus of being able to see the car in the flesh".

The talk is free and open to the public.

Refreshments will be available from 1830 GMT in the Alan Berry Building reception area (main building on the University Square).

The JCB Dieselmax will be on view outside the building from 1700 GMT onwards and will remain there until approximately 2000 GMT.
