Compressors cut energy consumption

A new generation of energy-efficient compressors as part of the popular L-Series of oil-lubricated rotary screw machines will allow users to lower energy consumption and reduce fuel bills.

CompAir, the global manufacturer of compressed air and gas systems, is offering customers worldwide the chance to dramatically cut the cost of their compressed air.

The company is launching a new generation of energy-efficient compressors as part of its popular L-Series of oil-lubricated rotary screw machines, which will allow users to lower energy consumption and reduce fuel bills.

These new compressors, in sizes 30 to 45kW and with fixed or variable speed options, will all be housed in CompAir's innovative new Frame 3 modular design.

The new design not only offers customers significantly reduced fuel and maintenance costs but lower CO2 emissions and a convenient design with quieter operating volumes and a much smaller footprint than comparable models on the market.

To maximise energy efficiency, the pioneering Frame 3 design has moved from a conventional belt drive to a direct drive.

This direct gear coupling, which aligns the motor and air end shafts, results in optimum performance with increased efficiency and low power transmission losses.

The reduction in connecting parts also means the design is less sensitive to vibration and shock and, as such, less likely to breakdown and incur repair costs.

The new L50 model is the jewel in the Frame 3's crown.

This extension to the 45kW class builds on the success of previous 45kW models by adding a larger air end - the premium EK175 - to create a super-efficient compressor which has best in class performance and offers users energy savings of up to 8%.

Meanwhile, the standard 45kW model is available with either fixed or variable speed drive options.

The variable speed L45SR model offers incredible energy savings of up to 30% through the use of a unique switched reluctance (SR) drive.

This well proven but innovative drive is manufactured under exclusive licence for CompAir machines and ensures the compressor always operates at maximum efficiency by precisely matching power consumption with air demand, eliminating wasteful periods of unloaded running.

Knowing that space is frequently at a premium, CompAir has created a compact machine with a very small footprint which, at just 0.92m wide, fits through standard industrial doors.

The innovative modular design of the Frame 3 offers greater flexibility for the customer, allowing them to pick and choose parts according to their needs.

Everything is then neatly contained within the cabinet, which includes a noise damper and antivibration mounting to minimise noise levels.

Additionally, all compressors have the option of an integrated dryer which saves further floor space.

The new design makes installation and maintenance straight forward, with one convenient access point for all connections and an easy to change high performance separator filter with a hinged cover.

There is also a 20% reduction in parts due to the direct coupled systems, which means necessary maintenance is decreased and breakdowns are less likely.

Furthermore, the modular design is extremely easy to assemble and install.

The Frame 3 compressors also boast significantly reduced operating volumes.

With a noise level of just 67dB(A), well below the typical industry noise level of 90dB(A), it is easy to stand next to the compressor and have a conversation and there is no need for users to wear ear protection.

Coupled with the smaller footprint, this means that the compressor does not need to be relegated to a distant compressor house, but can be located right where the air is needed.
