CompAir's C30 portable compressor is permanently installed on a road tanker which is used for collecting liquid chalk slurry from a rail terminal in Workington.

Duncan Hill Transport has come up with a novel way of using a CompAir portable compressor, fixing it beneath the road tanker to increase productivity.

CompAir's C30 portable compressor is permanently installed on a road tanker which is used exclusively for collecting liquid chalk slurry from a rail terminal in Workington and delivering it to a nearby paper board mill for use in the paper manufacturing process.

The tanker has the C30 compressor fitted into a frame in between the running gear and landing legs.

On average, it transports six loads of slurry a day, with each load consisting approximately 30 tonnes of material.

Duncan Hill proprietor Richard Nixon, says: "The compressor is used for blowing the material from the rail tanker into our road tanker then blowing it into the tall storage vessels at the paper board mill".

"We needed an extremely robust compressor that can pump the dense chalk slurry into the vessels".

"We chose CompAir's new C30 portable compressor for its durability and reliability.

So far, it has handled the challenge extremely well".

"With the number of trips the tanker has to make per day, installing the compressor on the vehicle has greatly increased productivity." "Not only has it helped speed up the handling time of materials at both the collection and delivery point, it means that day in, day out we can shift greater quantities of slurry".

The C30 is one of a range of single-tool diesel-driven compressors from CompAir which can adjust engine speed automatically to ensure it operates at optimum efficiency for the air consumption required.

It has a balanced keyless start-up system - the engine idles without air delivery during the initial 60 second warm-up phase with air delivery then being initiated by pressing a button on the control panel.

The C series includes a wide range of compressors from the C14, a compact, manually transportable Honda petrol engine screw compressor, to the water-cooled diesel-powered C20, C25 and C30.

In addition, within this range there is the C20GS, a single-tool compressor and 6kVA generator which can be run simultaneously.

CompAir's portable range extends to its high output patented turbo screw designs.
