Electrical safety testing specialist Seaward Group has acquired the Cropico precision measurement business to broadens its expertise in the test and measurement sector.
Electrical safety testing specialist Seaward Group has acquired the Cropico precision measurement business.
Cropico is a supplier of electrical, scientific and quality control measurement equipment to the aerospace, pharmaceuticals, railway, automotive and utilities sectors.
It recently won a contract to supply the US Air Force with specialist temperature measurement systems used in engineering calibration laboratories.
With a manufacturing operation in Croydon, Cropico makes precision ohmmeters for resistance measurement applications, temperature measurement instruments and calibration reference products.
The acquisition broadens Seaward's expertise in the test and measurement sector.
The group already includes the Seaward Electronic portable appliance test equipment business, supplies electromedical testers under the Rigel Medical brand and makes the Clare Instruments compliance test equipment range.
An international distribution network and a dedicated US sales office in Tampa, Florida, USA, support group manufacturing operations.
Rod Taylor, Managing Director, said: "Cropico is a very well known brand name in its field and as market leader in its own right will complement our existing businesses very well".
"In particular, the company's export performance has been very strong and this will help to expand the opportunities for our existing group products in some new market sectors".
"As part of the new arrangements, we will be consolidating our group sales efforts in the USA and sharing product development expertise here in the UK".
