Power transmission specialist, Cross and Morse, has launched a new fast-response service which is aimed at reducing costly downtime due to mechanical failures, as well as cutting lead times on prototype equipment, and ensuring that OEM production lines are never held up through lack of components.

The new service covers chain and belt drives, overload protection devices, shaft couplings, bearings and a wide variety of other power transmission components.

A key feature of the new service is that it covers not only stock components, which are usually despatched within hours of an order being received, but also components which require re-working, and even custom products.

To ensure the fastest possible response for stock items, Cross and Morse carries large stocks of all popular items in an efficient modern warehouse.

A direct computer link with the sales department ensures that all urgent orders receive immediate attention, and a variety of despatch methods is available to allow customers to select the optimum balance between cost and speed of delivery.

By arrangement, orders may also be collected direct from Cross and Morse's premises in Birmingham.

Where the user's requirements cannot be directly met by stock products, Cross and Morse's extensive and highly automated UK manufacturing facilities allow the company to carry out re-working almost immediately.

Most re-worked products are, as standard, despatched within 48 hours, and for a modest extra charge, this despatch time can be reduced to six hours or even less.

For special applications, Cross and Morse's expert in-house engineering team uses modern CAD facilities to design custom products rapidly and efficiently.

The products are then, in most cases, manufactured on site, allowing the time required for design, prototyping and production to be cut to an absolute minimum.

Depending on complexity, prototypes can often be delivered within a few days of the original enquiry, with production quantities following rapidly.
