Cross and Morse, has announced a major expansion in manufacturing capacity at its Birmingham plant with a new CNC machining centre having been installed

Following recent strong and sustained growth in the company's sales, power transmission expert, Cross and Morse, has announced a major expansion in manufacturing capacity at its Birmingham, West Midlands, plant A new CNC machining centre has been installed, making a total of six in all, and the company has moved from two-shift to three-shift working in key manufacturing sections

The company is also actively recruiting.

Complementing the new equipment is a large and recently installed automated gear cutting facility, which currently includes no fewer than eight robot-loaded gear cutting machines.

"While our standard products are continuing to sell well, most of our growth is currently coming from customised products," said George Harris, managing director of Cross and Morse.

"This is because more and more users of power transmission products are realising that they can make big savings in time and money by adopting customised solutions." "With our experienced in-house design team, and our up-to-the-minute UK manufacturing facilities, we have long been uniquely well placed to address the demand created by these users," continued Harris.

"Now, with our newly expanded facilities, we will be able to offer them even faster service, especially for high-volume orders, while maintaining our universally renowned product quality, and exceptionally competitive pricing." Cross and Morse's new 600CTX CNC machining centre significantly increases the company's capacity for producing high-quality precision turned work, such as that associated with the production of gears, sprockets, pulleys, shafts and clutches.

Its installation demonstrates Cross and Morse's enthusiastic commitment to UK manufacturing, and is the latest phase in the company's on-going UK investment programme. Request free introductory details about products from Cross + Morse ...
