Clutches to cope with rapid drive reversal

An advanced range of clutches has been specifically designed for applications requiring rapid reversal of the drive unit.

Known as the CKK range, the clutches are incorporated within a compact housing - equivalent to the space envelope of a 62 series bearing, offering increased flexibility for the design engineer.

The compact design of the CKK clutch is achieved using an independent sprag-cage assembly in conjunction with a caged ball bearing and the new CKK range suits shaft diameters from 15-40mm.

The sprag-cage assembly incorporates the maximum complement of sprags, to achieve optimum torque carrying capacity, with instant torque engagement assured through the employment of a single energised spring which maintains a constant light contact between the sprags and the races.

To avoid repetitive lubrication, the clutches are supplied as standard, with long-life greased lubricant and for operation within a hostile environment, sealed clutches are available and the clutches operate in a temperature range from -35C to +100C.

Features of the new CKK range of clutches include indication of the rotational direction on the inner race, smooth races, for press-fit drive to the housing and shaft and the option of inner or both inner and outer keyed races.

The CKK clutch range offers easy installation and is backed by Cross + Morse application specialists.
