Torque tester takes on larger containers

A Crane Electronics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 7, 2006

CapStar digital torque testers can now be used on containers with up to five litres capacity.

Crane Electronics' range of CapStar digital torque testers has been long recognised as the most efficient and versatile means of achieving highly accurate, digital measurement of bottle top torque.

This versatility has been further enhanced by the introduction of a new fixture that accepts containers with up to five litres capacity.

With this innovation, CapStar can now be more widely used in sectors such as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries as well as by producers of paints, resins, oil and household products where such containers are common place.

Designed to measure both tightening and releasing torque, this new product incorporates a number of design features in order to accommodate large containers and give highly accurate readings.

For example, the fixing position for the container has been offset to allow the container cap to be perfectly aligned with the CapStar's shaft and therefore guarantee accurate measurements.

Provision has also been made for the CapStar to be bolted down to a bench in a laboratory or to a mobile trolley.

This feature is particularly useful for those companies wishing to position the CapStar next to a production line for immediate lineside testing.

CapStar is simple to use and the information it provides can be stored in its internal memory and downloaded to a printer or computer.

Up to 200 readings can be stored in the memory with date and time stampings.

An LCD digital readout displays the peak torque value of each test.

Preferred units of measurement may be selected from a list of seven options and statistical analysis of sigma, mean and range is also available when data is either printed or downloaded to a PC.

CapStar has a durable drip proof ABS housing and wipe clean surface.

It has touch sensitive controls and for portability is battery powered with an optional mains charger.
