A series of masters-level short courses is available free of charge to engineers employed by companies based within the eastern region of the UK.

Cranfield University, with support from the European Social Fund (ESF), is offering a series of masters-level short courses free of charge to engineers employed by companies based within the eastern region.

ESF support enables each course to be offered free of tuition fees, with participating companies responsible for any additional costs incurred, such as travel expenses.

Each course applies to a wide range of process sectors including oil, gas, water, power, chemicals, minerals, food, and pharmaceuticals.

Two courses are currently available.

"Process simulation and design" on the 19th January 2004 introduces techniques and tools for the design, analysis and optimisation of process equipment and plants.

"Process intensification" on 23rd-27th February 2004 aims to give companies a competitive advantage through reduced costs, higher yields and better products of consistent quality.

This course provides an introduction to the principles and techniques of PI.

Tuition is by experts from Cranfield University and visiting lecturers from industry.

Additional support is provided before, during and after the course via a web based learning support system - the Online Course Companion.
