Abdou Jallow has won a GBP 10,000 scholarship to study on the Cranfield University IT for product realisation MSc.

When Cranfield University asked undergraduate students for their vision of how IT might affect the home in 2020, Abdou Jallow donned his creative hat and provided an insight into the way robots will be used to clean our homes and even do the gardening.

Now his ideas have won him a GBP 10,000 scholarship to study on the university's IT for product realisation MSc.

Jallow, who is currently studying for a BSc in information systems management at Cranfield University at Shrivenham, is due to start his course in October and said: "It's been my personal ambition to pursue a Masters immediately after completing my first degree".

"I'm confident that if I follow the 'Cranfield route' the sky is the limit for my academic ambition".

"In the next five years I'd like to be a PhD graduate from Cranfield, and I'm optimistic that the skills and knowledge gained through my MSc will prepare me for real life problems in the industry".

Competition entrants were asked to write a 2000 word essay entitled "IT 2020: how information technology is going to change life at home in 2020".

Finalists were selected and invited to Cranfield where they presented their work, before being given a tour of the university's facility.
