Copley Controls has developed a high rigidity ServoTube actuator with twin outrigger bearings designed for applications subject to high side loading.

Copley Controls has developed a high rigidity ServoTube actuator with twin outrigger bearings designed for applications subject to high side loading.

A ball-bushing option with steel bearing rails provides maximum side-loading support.

Optional polymer bushings, which use aluminium rails for reduced weight, are ideal for vertical loads.

The bearing structure minimises the potential for jamming, simplifies actuator integration into rugged industrial equipment.

Used with DeviceNet-compatible Xenus driver, the actuator is easily integrated into PLC-based control systems.

Reinforced-bearing actuator provides, fast, clean, quiet running operation at low cost.

The iron-sleeve design produces up to 20% more thrust than standard ServoTube actuators.

Four models deliver a continuous force range of 61-119 N (14-27 lb), with peak forces up to 860N (193lb).

There are 12 stroke lengths available from 29 to 311mm.

The ServoTube's patented magnetic design provides 12um (0.47mil) repeatability and 250um (10mil) accuracy from a non-contact, integral position sensor.

No external encoder is required.

Position output is industry standard 1V peak-peak sin/cos signals.

The actuator's powerful thrust develops 369m/s/s acceleration and 5.6m/s speed.

Outrigger bearing holds thrust rod deflection to 2mm with rod extended by 200mm and under a 20-pound lateral load.

Lubricant-free bearings meet IP67 ruggedness qualifications, which brings food-safe and washdown advantages.

An optional electromechanical holding brake is available to support vertical actuator orientation.

Compatibility with a wide range of industry-standard mounting accessories facilitates simple drop-in pneumatic cylinder replacement, bringing the benefits of superior controllability, bandwidth and throughput.

Tasks include placing, filling, transferring, gluing and shearing actions, to meet the needs of packaging, assembly, materials handling and similar systems.
