Corus has become a sponsor of the Connections project in the Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design Department.
Corus has become a sponsor of the Connections project in the Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design Department.
The four-month programme will see first-year MA Vehicle Design students at the world's only wholly post-graduate university of art and design, generating innovative mobility solutions for those living in rural areas.
Alumni of the RCA's prestigious Vehicle Design course include some of the most respected names in the automotive industry, including Ian Callum, the Designer Director of Jaguar, and Rolls Royce Chief Designer, Ian Cameron.
During the design project, Corus will be on-hand to provide the students with an insight into the impact of future technologies, and the most effective use of steel materials and technologies.
As Professor Jon King, Director of Corus Automotive explains: "It is great for Corus to participate in an initiative alongside a world-renowned design institution such as the RCA, which explores the boundaries of car design and brings together a pool of industry representatives, to help nurture the growth and talent of the next generation of car designers".
Delighted at having Corus on board the programme, Professor Dale Harrow, Head of Vehicle Design Department at the RCA recently commented "Our students will benefit greatly from the extensive materials know-how that an industry leader such as Corus is able to provide".
"This will give the participants the opportunity to generate innovative designs which follow the most recent trends and advances in the use of materials".
"The automotive industry is constantly changing, and therefore it is critical that students are able to adapt their approach and ideas whilst also understanding the consequences of their choices".
