Acrylic is a material that is available in an endless range of colours and chemistries.

Acrylic is a material that is available in an endless range of colours and chemistries.

Unlike metal or glass, acrylic is light and warm to the touch.

Carville is a world leader in the field of bonding, machining and polishing acrylic and other plastics.

These techniques have been used to develop products for customers operating in a diverse range of business sectors.

An example of the use of coloured acrylic was initially demonstrated over a decade ago.

Dave Ruderman, Product Quality and Development Manager at the Parker Pen Company explains: "Parker had recognised a resurgence in the popularity of fountain pens and other fine writing instruments.

It was decided to recreate some of our popular and classic models from the 1920s.

While the idea was good, we had difficulty sourcing suitable materials for the next generation of these popular products".

"Discussions with Carville resulted in a joint development project.

Carville were able to use their experience to source and customise materials that would offer Parker the quality look and feel we desired.

As a result of this joint development effort, Duofold Pearl and Black was successfully reintroduced.

This product remains in production and continues to be a favourite amongst our connoisseurs and collectors".

Carville has been able to offer Parker a range of quality products that could not be achieved using conventional manufacturing or moulding methods.

As a result of the Pearl and Black success, Parker also reintroduced a limited edition mandarin yellow along with other new products such as red and blue mosaics.
