Multi-function timer cuts costs, reduces
inventory

Crouzet has announced a new low-cost, multi-function industrial timer with flexibility that enables distributors and OEMs to improve availability with far smaller stocks, called Chronos 2.

Crouzet has announced a new low-cost, multi-function industrial timer with unprecedented flexibility that enables distributors and OEMs to improve availability with far smaller stocks Called Chronos 2, the new timer features recessed front face rotary switches to select any of 10 functions and 7 timing ranges together with a calibrated dial to set times from 0.1s to 100hrs

The entire Chronos 2 range is also multi-voltage on just two terminals, requiring no links to achieve operation on the most commonly used 24V DC and 24-240V AC supplies.

The timer is housed in industry standard 17.5mm and 22.5mm DIN rail or plug-in 8 or 11 pin housings.

Inputs can be taken from 3 wire sensors, PNP output solid-state devices or 24V DC.

Unusually, an isolated external supply can be used for the control input.

Switching capability is 8A-250V using cadmium free change-over relay contacts, or optionally a solid-state relay rated 700mA-250V.

Being micro processor based, Chronos 2 is very accurate, with ±0.5% repeatability.

All models are fitted with a green indicator LED that shows power on, timing in progress and timing finished by coded flashes.

The 22.5mm model uses the extra space to provide a second (yellow) LED for relay energised and an optional second relay output.

The multi-function timer provides delay-on, one-shot, time after impulse, timing on energisation and several other useful operational modes.

A reduced function set is available at lower cost in a bi-function model.

Accurate time setting is ensured by selecting one of the 7 ranges by rotary switch (0.1-1s/1s-10s/0.1m-1m/1m-10m/0.1hr-1hr/1hr-10hr/10hr-100hr), then adjusting the final time setting using a calibrated 10:1 dial.

Connections are made to easy to use captive (self opening) pozidrive/slotted screw terminals that accept 1.5mm2 flexible cable or 2.5mm2 solid cables.

Two spring terminations per point save wiring time and simplify cabling design.

Operation to 12V AC or DC is provided by a 12-240V AC/DC model.

Designed to be environmentally friendly, Chronos 2 features cadmium free relay contacts, recyclable plastics housings and laser etched annotation to eliminate the use of inks and solvents.

The new design also has some 30% fewer components than typical timers, saving on cost and improving reliability.

Chronos 2 conforms to appropriate standards such as CE marking and is currently undergoing approval to UL and CSA standards.

It became available in April 1999. Request a free brochure from Crouzet ...
